Wow! Miranda Lambert Covers Elton John

April 9, 2018

Lambert sounds beautiful as she covers, and puts her own touch on the 1970 Elton John song "My Father's Gun."

Her version of the song is a little more stripped down, and comes off a little more sad than the original song.

Elton John's third studio album Tumbleweed Connection was an early favorite of Bob Dylan.

"My Father's Gun" tells the story of a young Confederate soldier who has to bury his father, and was killed during the Civil War. He picks up his father's gun, and then rejoins the battle.

"I'll not rest until I know the cause is fought and won / From this day on until I die I'll wear my father's gun," Lambert sings, acting as the narrator.
