NBA basketball suspended their 2019-2020 season after finding out that Utah Jazz all star Rudy Gobert tested positive for the coronavirus.

The league said in a statement  “The NBA is suspending game play following the conclusion of tonight’s schedule of games until further notice, The NBA will use this hiatus to determine next steps for moving forward in regard to the coronavirus pandemic.”

And now it looks like NHL Hockey will follow suit.

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman told the clubs the regular season would be suspended due to the spread of the coronavirus.

“Our goal is to resume play as soon as it is appropriate and prudent, so that we will be able to complete the season and award the Stanley Cup. Until then, we thank NHL fans for your patience and hope you stay healthy,” the league said in a statement.

The MLS season has been suspended as well.

So what about the 2020 Summer Olympics?

Olympic flame lighting ceremony in Greece was closed to the public due to fears over the coronavirus. And with the games less than four months away, some are concerned about what the global pandemic could mean for the fate of the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.

Could Major League Baseball's opening day be next?

Reports are that  Major League Baseball is expected to suspend spring training. And the league will likely delay the beginning of the regular season as too.
