Independence Day in San Diego!  Food, sun, beaches, fireworks and fun!

The day AFTER Independence Day?  Not so much fun.

San Diego's beaches take a beating as thousands of 4th of July revelers leave tons of bottles, cans, food wrappers and assorted garbage.

That's where you come in!

Join the Surfrider Foundation for 'Morning After Mess,' their annual day-after-4th-of-July cleanup.

Volunteers can join the cleanup efforts at any one of four locations - Ocean Beach Pier, Fiesta Island, Crystal Pier in PB and Oceanside Pier.  Surfrider provides the necessary supplies, like gloves and trashbags, you just need to provide a little effort to put San Diego's beaches back in order.

Assemble by 9:00am on July 5th.  The cleanup goes until 12:00pm.

If Saturday, July 7th is more convenient for you, join the Surfrider Foundation for a Beach Cleanup sponsored by Rubio's Coastal Grill and ALT 949.

The first 94 people that come to clean up the beach get a FREE Rubio's meal!

The event is a beach and street cleanup at the Oceanside Pier.  Meet on the north side of the pier, on the beach. Bags and gloves will be provided, but we encourage you to bring your own reusable supplies if you have them.

More info on these events here at Surfrider.org.
