Iconic Actress Mary Tyler Moore Dies at 80

A television icon, actress Mary Tyler Moore has passed away.  She was 80 years old.

Moore's breakout role came on the Dick Van Dyke show as Laura Petrie, wife of TV comedy writer Rob Petrie, played by Dick Van Dyke.  The show ran from 1961 to 1966 on CBS.

Moore also received critical aclaim for "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" which ran for sevens seasons beginning in 1970.

Mary Tyler Moore had been battling Type 1 diabetes since the 1970's.  She also underwent surgery in 2011 to remove a benign brain tumor.
