The Padres Tangle With The Hottest Team in Baseball

July 26, 2019

The Padres (48-54) welcome the hottest team in baseball to town.

The Giants (52-51) have won 18 of their last 23 games, and sit 3.5 games out of the second wild card spot, after being over ten games below .500 as recently as last month.

Friday’s pitching matchup will be Jeff Samardzija against Joey Lucchesi.  Shaun Anderson will go on Saturday for the Giants, while the Padres have not yet announced their starter.  Sunday’s matchup should be a great one, as Madison Bumgarner will go up against Chris Paddack.

With the trade deadline next Wednesday, this series could really impact how both the Padres and Giants approach the deadline in terms of buying and selling.
